Orphans Return to School

Assalam Aleikum brothers and sisters,
May peace and blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon His Prophet and his followers.

Eid-Al Fitr was celebrated with a style in Kenya, a part from the usual fitr food distribution, 20 orphans from major slums in Bungoma managed to get back to school. This was after The Zakat Foundation of America considered their appeal to have school uniforms. The orphans were out of school because the uniform they had was putting them in uncomfortable position with the rest of the students especially from privilleged families.

Mwanahawa, is a very brilliant orphan who has been the best ever since grade 3 despite the challenges she is facing. Now she is in grade 6 at Bungoma Muslim Primary School.
When we submitted their request to The Zakat Foundation of America, the Foundation quickly responded in a Muslim brotherhood manner.Initially we had thought of supporting 10 orphans but the Foundation considered to support 20 orphans. This was a welcomed gesture which the Deputy District Education Officer, Ms.Jemimah Kigondu welcomed.........I admire the spirit and love that Muslims show to each other. The Zakat Foundation of America have placed these orphans in a privelleged position that will enable them fit emotionally and socially in the acedemic enviroment. On behalf of the Ministry of Education, the teachers and the orphans,I ask Mohammed to send my appreciation and greetings to the Foundation and the people of America for their generosity.
